It Is Going Like This

My sister Sue and her husband Randy are being so very, very nice to me. They are giving me a place to stay in Selah way out on the Wenas Road. It is very pretty out here even when the days are not so pretty out. It has also been butt-ass-monkey-popsicle-cold here. With highs not even reaching zero degrees Celcius or 32 degrees Fahrenheit.

My lifelong friend Victor celebrated his 40th birthday on January 16th and they had a nice little get together the weekend before. I had a really great time and there was much laughter and good times and even a few drinky-poos. I was really very happy and proud to be there to celebrate his birthday with him.

Victor with his wife Bibi on the night of his celebration. I hope to be so fortunate on my upcoming 40th.

Elise invited me to come with her to go skiing this past weekend and we had so much fun. We get along really very well. It's a good thing that I like younger women and she likes older men. Woo hoo!

Me and Elise taking a break from the slopes. She's the cute one on the right.

The last thing to tell you is that I GOT DAZEY BACK!

I cannot thank my very good friends Kathy, and Jerry, and Karlie, for taking care of Dazey while I have been unable to. Dazey looks great and is good spirits despite my taking her away from such a loving home. But I missed her so much I cannot say. She still knows all her tricks and is just as much fun to be with as I remember.

"Interviewed" at Clear Channel

I had met Jack Balzer about 10 years ago while he was working over nights at KATS FM, in Yakima, after a friend of mine who was working at KIT/KATS asked me to come down and dink around doing some radio production work. So I see jack come in to Macy's and I make a point to stop him and reintroduce myself. He is now the Program Director for KUTI in Yakima. To make a long story short, because I only have a few minutes left on my lunch, I sent him my resume and my audio demo recording and he sent it to other PDs around the Clear Channel cluster of stations and other Clear Channel PDs. So then I saw Dave Ettl at Macy's, who is the PD for KIT, which is in the same group as Jacks, and he said stop by the station sometime. The next day I made an appointment to go hang out with Jack. That lead to me getting a very impromptu interview! They recently had their "board op" or broadcast board operator for games, like baseball, football, etc. I am waaaaaay over qualified and it is only a part-time gig, but a foot in the door. Also, there really isn't a job opening, but they feel they must replace this position ASAP or maybe not be able to fill it for quite a while if ever. We shall see.

Just going into the studios I felt very elated and was checking out all the fun I could be having and all of the microphones waiting for my voice. It will happen. It is just a matter of time and effort.

Nuts and Bolts

I want to tell you all about my recent exploits and fun I've been having, but lack of internet access and crazy working schedules just don't find me heading off to the nearest internet shop. I just don't know of many places that offer free internet. I could go to Starbucks (eww) but they charge money. Those bastards.

In other news, I was the M.C. for the Yakima Downtown New Years Celebration. A great family event celebrated outside with 4 local bands, vendors and crazy hats and stuff. There were, I'd guess, a couple thousand people there. It went off well and I even got a small qoute in the Yakima Herald Republic newspaper. I'd love to put there web site on this blog, but they want to charge me $2.95 for the article. Ha! Like that's going to happen.

So the new year is going fine. I've been dating a really cute woman, Elise, who is funny, and smart too. Trifecta! We are having a grand time together.

I am still looking for a job in radio. I prefer to stay in the Northwest, but I am wanting a carreer in radio so badly that I dream about being behind the mic. It's only a matter of time.
